High school and college are special periods that leave strong emotions and memories in all of us. Love stories, delusions, successes, important decisions to take, independance… E then the extra curricula activities: sport, disco, music and on and on…

When Soma asked me to partecipate to her new College blog hop I really had a hell of a time deciding what to do. How could I choose what to show? It took months before I managed to decide what to stich, and then choose the right image. In the end I chose a microscope, to represent my scientific studies. While searching the web I didn’t find a paper pieced microscope so this could be useful also for science-oriented gifts.

What I really like is that you can showcase a special fabric on the slide: flowers for a botanist, insects for an entomologist, rocks for geologists, strange eyes peering at you for a biologist :)

This is a fabulous block. Used a microscope quite a lot in high school and then again in college. We also used one when I home schooled my son for a few years.

Thanks so much, Gaya!! I LOVE this block!! I have to make one for geology :)

  14. Hello! Thx for sharing this beautiful pattern :) I’d love it and I sew it as a gift for my biologist friend (http://work-with-patches.blogspot.com/2014/12/mikroskop-pp-microscope-pp.html)
